Teamwork Makes the Dream Work at Madison Elementary

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work at Madison Elementary

“When we work together, we get things done faster!”

That was the big takeaway for Ms. O’Brien’s kindergarteners at Madison Elementary last week. The students took part in a silent toss activity designed to put their cooperation skills to the test.

The challenge unfolded in two rounds:

  • Round 1: Students had to pass the ball using only nonverbal cues, ensuring everyone in the circle got a turn without saying a single word.
  • Round 2: Students were encouraged to use their voices, calling out names to signal where the ball was headed next.

The class agreed that the second round was much easier! It was a hands-on lesson in how clear communication builds stronger teamwork.

This activity is part of the CharacterStrong curriculum, a vital program dedicated to improving school safety, student behavior, and mental health.
